Facebook, along with other social media platforms, has shaped the daily lives of the majority of the world's population.

The average Facebook user spends 40 minutes a day on the platform [source], so imagine how that average time would increase if employees could use Facebook at Work...

The Financial Times announced that Facebook are now developing 'Facebook at Work' which will be competing with the likes of Linked In and Google Drive and is rumored to be launched in early January.

Details are still being finalised but what can we expect from Facebook's latest venture...?

Facebook at Work will be a separate platform from the Facebook we all know (and some love) but will share a similar appearance!

It will also share similar qualities to LinkedIn, as you will be able to connect with other professionals e.g colleagues, associates and clients.

Rumored to be similar to Google Drive, you will be able to share and work on documents with your colleagues.

On top of that, Facebook at Work is supposedly going to include a messaging system so you can interact with colleagues whilst working!

Critics are asking whether this new social media platform will simply become a distraction and if companies will feel safe uploading their confidential documents.

The answer is... only time will tell!

All we know for certain is that Facebook are trying to fill a gap in their market and with companies like LinkedIn thriving it's understandable that Facebook wants to give it a go too.

One thing is for sure, Thrive will be one of the first to try it out! Will you?

Facebook at Work is to launch in January 2015, according to current reports.
